British comedian Judi Love has teamed up with the University of East London to launch the Dr Judi Love Award, a new funding initiative designed to provide financial support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Love commented 'There was a time when university felt like a world that wasn't built for someone like me. I was raising two children as a single mum. I was juggling responsibilities, worrying about money and trying to prove to myself that I belonged... Education changed the direction of my life and I want this award to do that for somebody else'.
